Beocenter 9500 was developed because of better technologies that were around at the time, and as a way of matching better other Bang & Olufsen products. Time never stands still, so they say, and a manufacturer always has to keep abreast of what is happening in the technological world and respond accordingly.

The biggest technological advancement as far as the introduction of Beocenter 9500 was concerned was that of two-way remote control communication. Still fondly remembered nowadays, this system gave visual feedback of sources being played together with volume levels on a suitably equipped two-way remote control terminal. Beolink 5000 or even the sophisticated Beolink 7000 could be used. Active speakers - such as Beolab Penta - could also be used too, although the Beocenter 9500 was still equipped with a suitably powerful amplifier to drive almost any of the passive speakers that were on sale.

Visually, Beocenter 9500 now had a shiny metal set of top covers as opposed to the duller versions on its Beocenter 9000 forerunner.

A visually matching turntable - Beogram 9500 - was available for purchase if you wished to play your stock of LP records. This matched Beocenter 9500 perfectly in looks.

In 1993 Beocenter 9500 was replaced by the cut-down Beocenter 9300, which, although looked exactly the same, had been almost totally redesigned.

Bang & Olufsen with Jacob Jensen were given the 1990 iF Design Award for their design of the Beocenter 9500.

System stand ST9500 was produced especially for accommodating the Beocenter 9500 although was equally at home with any of this particular system’s sister products such as the Beocenter 9000, 8000 and 8500.
