BeoCenter 1500

BeoCenter

Production: 1976 - 01/1978

Documents: Schematic, Service Manual

Beocenter 1500 was introduced as a replacement for Beocenter 1400 and the two models looked very similar to each other. Internally however, the tape mechanism had been updated and made to run smoother and quieter as tape technology was advancing quite markedly at this period of time. The innards of this new model were based upon Beocord 1100. The model still had no onboard Dolby NR circuitry, and the radio had been left unaltered offering precise FM tuning and excellent channel separation. More and more stereo broadcasts were being made at this time and Beocenter 1500 was able to cope with the higher quality broadcasts on offer.

Tape heads of Bang & Olufsen cassette decks have always been of high quality and on the Beocenter 1500 this was no different, being manufactured of a super Permalloy to give long-wearing use.

There were connections for a record deck, two sets of stereo speakers, headphones and an extra tape deck.

Good quality wood veneers graced the top and sides with the clunky buttons on the cassette player being made of sturdy aluminium. The front panel was of anodised aluminium - a manufacturing process which was more expensive and more demanding but which also made the set more robust and resistant to marks and scratches.

At the time of its release the Beocenter 1500 UK price was 217.00 GBP. When used with suitable matching Bang & Olufsen loudspeakers, the complete unit was known as Beosystem 1500.
