Designed to be used with BeoVision 4-37, BeoVision 4-42 and BeoVision 7-32, the active BeoLab 7-1 loudspeaker was one of the most advanced and powerful loudspeakers built for use with a television home cinema set-up. It comprised six individual driver units, all powered by their own digital ICEpower amplifier. The beam-shaped loudspeaker sat below the television screen and gave good acoustic performance, rivalling many hi-fi systems. Alternatively there was a special table-top stand to mount it.
Manufactured from a single piece of aluminium the cabinet was coated in a resilient black soft-touch lacquer. The perforated aluminium front grille came anodised in five different colours: Black, dark and light grey, blue and red.
A special three-way bass reflex construction incorporated six individual units – two each for treble, mid-range and bass. Each driver was powered by a unique built-in ICEpower amplifier, delivering a combined effect of 750 watts. In addition, BeoLab 7-1 and its larger companion BeoLab 7-2 were equipped with thermal protection circuits and Adaptive Bass Linearisation (ABL), which ensured maximum performance without distortion, even at very high volume.
