BeoVision 4

BeoVision

Production: 2004 - 2013

BeoVision 4 was introduced to the Bang & Olufsen range of plasma TV products to offer the customer a greater variety from which to choose. Offered initially as 37″ and 42″ models, the field has subsequently grown to televisions right up to the 50″, 65″ and 85″ sizes.  And from mid-2009 a giant-sized 103” model was introduced with, from April 2011, Bang & Olufsen's first foray into the world of 3D TV: the BeoVision 4-85 3D.

A typical BeoVision 4 set up would have included the screen itself initially linked to a BeoSystem 2,  the master unit having the same functionality as BeoVision 5.  From 2008 there was the external BeoSystem 3module to choose from which provided “intelligent technology behind the perfect picture” and integrated all high definition entertainment sources with complete digital surround sound and total BeoLink compatibility.

At the time of its introduction, it was suggested by Bang & Olufsen that customers purchasing BeoVision 4 and using it in a home-cinema environment should use a pair of BeoLab 4000 speakers as ‘centre speaker.’ However, BeoVision 4 now has its center loudspeaker, the triangular shaped BeoLab 10 which sits on the wall just beneath it.
Later BeoVision 4 televisions included full HD 1080p specifications including Bang & Olufsen’ss Automatic Colour Management technology, which utilized a short robotic arm with a camera eye which swung down from behind the aluminum frame and measured a test picture that appeared on the screen. This analyzed the color temperature and then adjusted to ensure constant color reproduction. Other features included Automatic Picture Control sensors to measure the ambient light in the room, adjusting TV brightness and contrast accordingly; anti-reflection glass; and a choice of brushed aluminum frames.
