Designer: Jakob Wagner
The BeoPlay A6 wireless speaker was announced at the IFA 2015 exhibition in Berlin and will be available for sale 19 October 2015.
At first glance, the speaker might look a little like the back of a chair. It is gently curved that way and draped in designer fabric from Danish studio Kvadrat. According to the company, this unique shape enables the speaker to fill an entire room while creating an ambiance in multiple areas of the house.
The unique shape, created by Award-winning Danish designer Jakob Wagner, is intended to help the A6 “fill an entire room with sound,” according to the company.
“In a way, I have designed the BeoPlay A6 the same way as I design a piece of furniture, however here form follows sound and interaction,” stated Wagner.“The natural yet surprising shape always ‘plays to you’ no matter where you are and generates a much more intimate experience than you would typically get from a more conventional music system”.
There is a ‘tap and swipe’ interface borrowed from the bigger BeoPlay A9, and you can also control it from a smartphone or tablet using the Band & Olufsen smartphone and tablet app.
