Beomaster 1700 (type 2607) was designed to complement Beolab 1700 both technically and aesthetically. Whereas Beolab 1700 incorporated an amplifier, Beomaster 1700 was an FM-only tuner. It was available separately to widen the choice and to provide customers the opportunity of purchasing just the amplifier if they did not need a separate radio tuner.
Released to the market in the way that Beomaster 5000 had been released a few years’ earlier, the unit looked very much more modern and sleeker with its striking black front panel against the rich wooden rosewood veneer of its cabinet.
Three pre-set buttons were included on the FM waveband, together with connections for an amplifier and separate tape recorder. There was also an illuminated tuning indicator as well as Alternating Frequency Control (AFC).
