BeoPlay V1

BeoPlay

Production: 05/02/2012 - present

Announced at a Press conference 2 May 2012, BeoPlay V1 is the first Bang & Olufsen B&O Play sub-brand television to be launched. The new TV incorporates advanced sound technologies and picture optimization and is designed by Anders Hermansen who was inspired by Origami, the Japanese art of folding paper. Hermansen thus designed a TV which makes use of just two single sheets of powder-painted steel, pressed and folded together to form the body of the TV.

Seen as a replacement for the BeoVision 8 which was manufactured in high-quality plastic, the BeoPlay V1 is made from industrial painted steel together with a selection of raw materials and is available in two screen sizes: BeoPlay V1-32 (32”) and BeoPlay V1-40 (40”). Following a trend in ‘industrial design’ the set looks remarkably similar to the Loewe Connect which too is available with the same-sized screens.

BeoPlay V1 is available in two frame finishes: anthracite grey (black) and white. The tubular (silver-colored) front/surround is standard. Optional accessories include a colored fabric front in dark grey, red, yellow, silver or green. Frets can be changed easily, and spare covers can be stored when not in use in a built-in compartment. In place of the usual ‘Bang & Olufsen’ logo on the front, a ‘B&O” logo is used.

Stands

BeoPlay V1 incorporates a variety of stands enabling it to be used within very different viewing environments:

BeoPlay V1 is the first Bang & Olufsen product based on the new Video Engine platform. The sophisticated Video Engine, handling all sound processing and picture technologies, includes as standard a full 5.1 surround sound module, which allows a user to connect some speakers. In addition to offering good-quality picture and sound, a new Graphical User Interface allows ‘dialogue’ with the user. BeoPlay V1 may be connected easily with any other external sources as it incorporates source detection and installation assistance. PUC codes and software updates may be downloaded from the Internet. BeoPlay V1 includes DNA allowing for room to room and device to device playback.
