The sleek and beautiful Beocenter 2600 was comprised of a 2 x 25 watts RMS AM/FM receiver and a built-in cassette deck. It was seen as a replacement for Beocenter 1500 and 1600. Together with an improved cassette deck, Beocenter 2600 incorporated FM radio as well as LW and MW wavebands. An LED indicator made recording on to cassettes easy by way of coloured lights. Chrom Dioxid or normal tapes could be utilised and Dolby B NR circuitry ensured that recordings were clean and hiss-free. The inclusion of a super-Permalloy tape head gave long life and good service. A separate record deck could be added if required.
Beocenter 2600 became known as Beosystem 2600 when combined with other Bang & Olufsen products.
