Replacing the Beovision 7802 this A2 stereo receiver was fitted with Teletext as standard and its tube was from the Philips 45AX series which was able to offer a slightly larger viewing area on its flatter picture tube. Because the CRT was of a different breed, the 22″ was replaced by the 25″. Accordingly, the 26″ TV in this range - the Beovision LX2800 - was fitted with a 28″ screen. This one in turn directly replaced the Beovision 8902. Linked with this newer screen was a different chassis and more up-to-date electrical components. To finish off TV receiver unit a piece of glass was inserted in front of the picture tube to give it a squarer, more modern look. The glass was tinted in order to produce a crisper picture with better contrast. VisionClear was also included, as well as Automatic Cut-off.
The Beovision LX2500 was one incorporating a new range of electronic tuning; in fact everything that needed to be undertaken was carried out via the V. Terminal remote control apart from just two buttons on the set itself: one for turning on the set and another to ’step up’ the preset TV channels. A ‘Stereo Width Adjustment’ made wider the effect of the stereo sound.
A SCART socket was fitted as standard for connection to either a VCR or a satellite decoder, as well as two further AUX sockets.
The loudspeaker type was by way of pressure chambers and the onboard amplifier delivered 2 x 15W.
The finish was as good as ever for a Bang & Olufsen product and a new Whiteline model was introduced to further the choice on offer. An optional floor stand was available at the time of purchase and the owner could choose a Beocord VHS 91 for the recording of stereo TV transmissions.
The repacement for this set was the Beovision LX2502 which developed the idea of microprocessor control still further.
