Replacing the Beovision MX3500, the BeoVision MX4000 was equally as good looking and one whose cabinet contained a 21″ colour tube. The new TV was introduced as a result of better electronics and a different chassis. It accommodated a 2-way log-line speaker system.
Modules such as Picture-in-Picture, a Beosat LM satellite decoder and A2/NICAM stereo decoders could easily be accommodated within the less cluttered casing which made the television yet more desirable because of better functionality.
When the television was introduced in 1992 it used the two-way system of remote control when Beolink 5000was well suited for the task of its daily use. However, in 1995, the software in BeoVision MX4000 was upgraded to use the newly-introduced Beo4 terminal which meant that the set lost its two-way communication facility. Its system of Teletext was upgraded at that time too. Also the TV had fitted a plexi-glass contrast screen; however, in 1999 it was replaced with a ‘normal’ glass contrast screen as with the rest of the MX range.
