BeoGram Record Decks
Production: 1983 - 11/1986
Documents: Schematic, Service Manual, Owners Manual
Replacing the Beogram 6000, this newer version was fitted with an MMC3 cartridge and again - like all tangential-tracking record decks - was secure and reliable to use, with the added benefit that the stylus was ‘kind’ to your records, playing them back in the way that they had been initially pressed.
Operation of the Beogram 6002 was automatic with record size and speed identified by a ‘magic eye’ (photodiode) carried on a detector arm traveling ahead of the tonearm. Wearing its black-key livery, and matching darkened translucent lid, the record deck was produced in a good range of colors so that customers could pair it with their Beosystem 6000 or even the ground-breaking Beolab 8000 System which was top of the variety of hi-fi systems at that time.
Although the unit looked to be a tangential drive, it was belt-driven but used the same tangential arms to read long-playing discs.
A simple one-way (between Beomaster and Beogram) Datalink system was in place allowing for uncomplicated (start, stop) remote controlled operation.
