This new, sleek system became a very good seller.  Mainly because of its modern looks and the reasonable price tag that was attached to it.  Beocenter 2200 has travelled down through the course of time as one to remember. However, not for all the right reasons unfortunately. Looks-wise it was particularly well endowed… long, low and slim with hidden lights not noticeable until the machine was turned on. The new record deck looked the part too. Kitted out with a new MMC5 cartridge the deck, with its anti-static platter, played records well.  But, beneath the graceful aluminium and black visible parts were hidden Japanese components in much the same vein as its Beocenter 2002 cousin.

Again offering 2 x 25 watts through its FM and AM receiver, the sound produced, however, was thin and weedy, especially when listening though its cheaply-produced Beovox X25 loudspeakers.

The system looked the part but unfortunately - in a very atypical Bang & Olufsun fashion - the music system failed to deliver. As popular as it was at the time, Beocenter 2200 is not a good example of how a Bang & Olufsen stereo system - at any price - should sound.

There were connections for a pair of headphones, a mono microphone, two pairs of speakers, an external tape recorder with two-way copying and FM and AM aerials.

Stand SM40 was available for displaying the Beocenter 2200 as well as the Beocenter 2100 and 4000.
