BeoGram 6000 (1974)

Beogram 6000 was another tangential, quadraphonic-enabled record deck which was designed to playback CD4-encoded discs. It had a built-in decoder (the CD4 Demodulator) which signaled this fact in red by way of an illuminated ‘CD4′ indicator display situated between the two-speed dials. To do this, it used an exceptional MMC 6000 cartridge to assist decode the discs upon playback.  However, the discrete 4-channel facility could be switched off if desired with standard stereo being played instead.

It was identical to Beogram 6002 in looks, and two versions were manufactured: one with AC motor and another later model fitted with DC motor.

Beogram 6000 had a built-in RIAA pre-amplifier. The record deck was included within New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Design Collection in 1975.

A whole host of awards was given to the record deck including the Italian Gold Sim in 1975.
