Beocenter 2800 was a replacement for Beocenter 1800 and was actually made up of two existing Bang & Olufsen products: Beomaster 1500 and Beogram 1500. Yet the whole package was one of a compact and quite unique (for its time) design. A generous 2 x 25W was generated from its amplifier, more than adequate for a small room. The usual Long, Medium amd FM stations were covered within the radio section, with tuning precise and clear. AFC, ceramic filters and facilities for programming four often-used FM stations made this system popular with families.
The record deck was fully automatic - pop on a disc and press play on the rocker switch - and music started almost immediately. An anti-skating device was built in to the arm suspension and again functioned totally automatically. An MMC 3000 cartridge was fitted to the extremely light record arm giving clear, crisp sound.
When linked together with other suitable B&O products, Beocenter 2800 became known as Beosystem 2800.
