BeoPlay

Production:

Just announced from Bang & Olufsen is the BeoPlay A2, the company’s first aptX Bluetooth speaker and which is launched under the B&O Play label.

Available in three colors: black, grey and green, the units are paired with leather straps which come in different sizes for convenience and complemented with metal waistbands which stand out the contrast with the polycarbonate-ABS polymer grille.

BeoPlay A2 is the company’s first aptX Bluetooth speaker within its B&O Play line, which also includes a portable AirPlay speaker, the BeoLit 12. Both models have been designed by Cecile Manz.

The book-shaped  BeoPlay 2, though flat and rectangular like a book, delivers 360-degree sound and a 24-hour battery life at 350€ / $399. Available in green, grey and black the player includes its own leather strap.

The speaker features an extruded-aluminum chassis with polymer shell on each of its largest sides. Each side incorporates a two-channel driver array and an extra tweeter delivers high-frequency sound ‘around the edges’, the company stated. The arrangement is promoted as delivering ‘room-filling music in all directions’. The drivers are powered by a 2×30-watt Class D amplifier which delivers 180-watt peak output and 55Hz-22kHz frequency response.

To extend the life of the rechargeable Li-ion battery to 24 hours, Bang & Olufsen added ‘adaptive power management’ technology to monitor and anticipate the incoming audio signal, making it possible to feed the exact amount of power needed by the amplifiers only when they need it.  The device features Bluetooth 4.0, a line input and a USB port to charge mobile devices.

BeoPlay A2 technical specifications
