Beovision 4402 was in every case identical to Beovision 4002 with the exception that with this model there was a remote control facility which could also be used with Teletext. The television was Bang & Olufsen’s first remote-controlled TV set using an ultrasonic remote control commander: the Beovision Control Module.
Equipped with a 26″ screen a good quality picture was obtained with low power consumption. Eight favourite TV stations could be stored by the push-buttons.
Two undercarriages were available as optional extras, one was a table-type undercarriage with castors; the other cross-base with castors.
Beovision 4402 represents Bang & Olufsen’s first television with remote-control as an option; Beomaster 6000, manufactured three years before, was the company’s first remote-controlled hi-fi system. Both remote-controls used ultrasonic sound rather than infra-red which is prevalent today.
