Beovox MS150/150.2 Passive Loudspeakers

BeoVox Loudspeaker

Production: 1980 - 1984

The Beovox UniPhase M150 and the 150.2 were two of the larger loudspeakers manufactured by Bang & Olufsen in the early 1980s. Both were monitor-type passive speakers and occupied an upper-end position in the marketplace where they delivered excellent sound through their multi-driver cabinets.

They could handle large sound levels and were particularly useful for use with the the Beomaster 8000 which could produce 150 watts through its two stereo channels although built-in overload protection circuits permitted the speakers to handle brief sections of music far above their rating values.

Beovox M150 was introduced to the model range at the same time as the Beovox MS150; the difference between the two models was that the MS150 was also fitted with a sub-woofer for the reproduction of sound at very low levels.  Other than that, the two models’ specifications were the same.

The new rangeof Uni-Phase loudspeakers was based upon computer aided design and laser holography in that simulations of technologies were possible before production began in order to bring out the best qualities of redesigned drivers as well as cabinet concepts.

Beovox M150 was fitted with three drivers: a 210mm woofer, 75mm phase-link unit and a 25mm tweeter and delivered sound in the 40 - 20KHz frequency band. It was an excellent loudspeaker and was bought by music lovers and professionals alike.

Occupying the same-sized wooden cabinet the Beovox M150.2 was also fitted with 3 drivers of the same size as its predecessor. Again overload protection was a feature of this large loudspeaker.

Both speakers could be placed on the floor or on their own special stand which was included as a standard accessory.
