BeoCenter 4000 (1978)

BeoCenter

Production: 1978 - 12/1980

Documents: Schematic

Basically a Beomaster 2200, Beocenter 4000 - even with an in-built cassette deck - was considered to be something that the others were not… that of a high-class hi-fi centre. With 2 x 40W of pure power to play with, the listener was never disappointed.

Beocenter 4000 had an FM stereo and LW and MW receiver as well as a high quality cassette deck whose performance levels certainly gave a match to more expensive ’separate’ models. A bank of eight push-buttons controlled the cassette deck. This was complemented by ten similar push-buttons on the receiver. The Sendust tape head ensured the best possible playback of cassette tapes and combined long life with optimum frequency response characteristics. There were two motors built in - one for fast wind and a second for normal play - so tape transport was always smooth and stable. Full auto-stop and Dolby B NR allowed for high quality, hiss-free home recordings that were kind to your tapes. Beocenter 4000 was very simple to operate despite its plethora of technical refinements and comprehensive facilities.

By adding a record deck - Beogram 1700 was recommended - the user could have a remarkable Beosystem at his or her disposal. Recommended loudspeakers included a pair of Beovox S45 or two P45 wall-mounted speakers.

Beocenter 4000 was known as Beosystem 4000 when combined with other suitable Bang & Olufsen products.
