BeoCenter 5000

BeoCenter

Production: 1980 - 05/1983

Documents: Service Manual, Service Manual

Similar to Beocenter 7002 but with no remote control facility, timer or facilities for using around the house, Beocenter 5000 looked good in its all-black livery. The music centre could play back records cassettes and was fitted with a LW, MW and FM radio with five preset buttons allowing for immediate access to radio stations.

A good quality 2 x 40 watts RMS amplifier was built into the unit which offered excellent sound with the minimum of distortion - less than 0,1% at full output. The record player was fully automatic and its lightweight arm carried the MMC 20E cartridge. An electronic servo-drive system allowed for perfect speed accuracy.

The cassette deck had the Dolby NR system incorporated, which by now was becoming standard on most cassette recorders. It could play metal tapes and was fitted with automatic ferric/chrome selection. A Sendust tape head was included as well as a 4-digit electronic tape counter.

The centre could be purchased complete with a pair of Beovox S55 loudspeakers when it was given the title of Beosystem 5000 (see image below). And to perfectly accommodate it within your living surroundings a special system cabinet, the SC50, could be purchased as an additional extra.
