BeoMaster 1700 (1980)

BeoMaster Tuner/Amplifier

Production: 1980 - 12/1982

Documents: Service Manual

Beomaster 1700 comprised an inbuilt 2 x 30W amplifier as well as an FM, LW and MW tuner and was the very last Bang & Olufsen model not to incorporate electronic controls. The receiver used a mechanical ‘track,’ rather like the tracks in an Army tank.  Somewhat unconventional, customers were not too enthused about Beomaster 1700, and the item only remained in the product range but for a short period.

Five radio stations, operated by push-buttons, could be present and a high degree of illuminated feedback on the sloping front was used.

When used with matching items Beogram 1700 and Beocord 1700, it was known as the Beosystem 1700. Loudspeakers S30 (or compact speakers C40) was the recommended products to go with the system. If a customer bought the whole package at the same time, it was sold as Beosystem 1700X.
