BeoPlay S8

BeoPlay

Production: 08/21/2014 - present

The BeoPlay S8 is a cut-down 2.1 version of the BeoLab 14 without all the bells & whistles.

Introduced at the end of August 2014 the BeoPlay S8 is aimed at those who enjoy a minimalistic look; the BeoPlay S8 delivers high-quality sound; its primary use is the streaming of music with connectivity for Apple’s AirPort Express, Sonos Connect among others (but not Apple AirPlay). Also, it can be connected to a Bang & Olufsen TV to enhance the television’s sound with great bass and 2.1 surround sound.

The speakers are made from a single piece of pearl-blasted aluminum for the best-sounding acoustics and come with a clean design. The satellite speakers can be wall- or stand-mounted, with both options included in the box. The sub-woofer is designed to be placed on the floor.

The 200mm class-D sub-woofer delivers a range of 20-150Hz with 280W of power for plenty of punchy basses. Complimenting this is the two satellite speakers which, despite being just 70mm, offer full-range sound and 140W, from the class-D amp found in the sub-woofer.

The BeoPlay S8 can also double up as a ’sound-bar equivalent’ as it connects to “any Bang & Olufsen TV” states the company.

BeoPlay S8 was designed by Torsten Valeur.
